Thomas Anthony Cagle

August 8, 1953 – February 6, 2025

Mr. Thomas Anthony Cagle, 71, of Hoffman, North Carolina entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 6, 2025.

Deacon Thomas Anthony “Kick Tommy” Cagle was born to the late Henry and Dorothy Cagle in Montgomery County, NC, on August 8, 1953. On February 6, 2025, after overcoming death multiple times, God called His cherished son, Deacon Thomas Anthony “Kick Tommy” Cagle, home.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Sandra Cagle, two brothers, William Cagle and Henry Douglas Cagle, and one adopted son, Sedrick Gillispie.

Deacon Cagle attended East Montgomery High School in Biscoe, NC. In his younger years, he was highly athletic, participating in football, softball, and basketball. His favorite things to do were hunting, fishing, singing, laughing, having fun, and later playing games on his phone. He worked as a boarder at Clayson Knitting in Star, NC, and spent many years as a cloth cutter at Klaussner Furniture in Candor and Asheboro, NC, where he formed many lasting friendships. After retirement, he
worked part-time for Clean Sweep in custodial services until his health declined. He built meaningful relationships with colleagues there, like his supervisor, Becky Oxendine, and her family.

Deacon Cagle became a Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church member early, singing faithfully in the choir. He later accepted Jesus Christ and became a Deacon at Full Gospel Church of God in Christ in Hoffman, NC. He continued working diligently as a Deacon at Jesus Is Lord Family Ministry in Pinebluff, NC, even after his declining health.

He met his love and life partner, Shirley Cole Cagle, in 1971. They married on July 6, 1974, and had three beloved children: Christopher Cagle of Biscoe, NC, Patrice Cagle of Greensboro, NC, and Felicia Cagle of Biscoe; four adopted daughters, April Jones, Nicole McClain, Shawana Bolden, and Dana Underwood; those also left to celebrate and cherish his memory are, his six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Alfred Cagle (Elaine) of Candor, NC, Lewis Cagle (Tamra) of Biscoe, and Robert McLean (Madine) of Fayetteville, NC; eight sisters, Claudia C. Barrett, Cathy Cagle, and Reverend Joyce Cassidy all of Biscoe, Cynthia Thomas (Terrill) of Charlotte, NC, Mary Rorie of Pittsburgh, PA, Annette Nelson (Clarence) of Dale City, VA, Demetre Steele (Issac) Kannapolis, NC, and Roxanne Horne (Vincent) of Maryville, TN; five uncles, including a special uncle Eddie Wade Cagle of Durham, NC; four aunts, including a special aunt, Grace Thomas (Bill) of Greensboro; two brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law, including his special sister-in-law, Maria Cole of Eagle Springs, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews, cousins, and friends.

Deacon Cagle was indeed a man of God and had a very strong faith that sustained him throughout his illnesses. He was a humble, nice, and quiet man who loved God, his family, his church family, and his friends. He leaves behind a great legacy of love and faith that will be cherished by all those who knew and loved him.
