Douglas McAuthour Armstrong, son of the late Narlie and Mozella Armstrong was born July 30, 1942. He departed his earthly life Friday, January 27, 2017 at his home in Norman, North Carolina.
Douglas graduated from Peabody High School in in Troy, NC. He was employed by Springs Mill Textile Industries, Biscoe, North Carolina for 30 years. He also worked for Elite Funeral Services until his health failed. Douglas enjoyed sports and spending time with family. He really loved his kool-aid and sweet potato pies.
He joined St. Luke #1 Free Will Baptist Church in Ellerbe, NC many years ago. He became a deacon at St. Luke #1 Free Will Baptist Church in May of 2010. He also served as superintendent at Dry Creek Congregational Church in Dry Creek.
Douglas was preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude Armstrong and Bernice Little.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and caring wife, Betty Armstrong of Norman, North Carolina. Four daughters, Mechele Parker of Clinton, Maryland, Stephany (Nathaniel) Peterkin of Pinehurst, NC, Leslie(Winfred) Felton of Greenville, NC, Camillia (Arlester) Simpson of Rockingham, NC. Three sons, Alan Parker (special friend Donna) of Candor, NC, Andre’ (Vivian) Parker of Clinton, Maryland, Tyrone Armstrong of Norman, NC. One sister in law, Janie Parker Grier of Brandywine, Maryland. Three sisters, Dollie Scott of Norman, NC, Elaine Williams of Troy, NC, Elmer Armstrong of Candor, NC. Three brothers, Bobby Armstrong of Biscoe, NC, Billy L. Armstrong of West End, NC, Narlie(Margaret) Armstrong of Asheboro, NC. God sister Almetta Armstrong of Pinehurst, NC. Ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
