Cleveland Terry

Cleveland Terry

January 19, 1944 – March 22, 2023

Mr. Cleveland Terry, affectionately known as “Pa” by
many, and “Papa” by his great grandchildren, was born on
January 19, 1944, to the late John Henry and Venetta Capel
Terry. He peacefully departed this earthly life on Wednesday,
March 22, 2023, at Firsthealth Moore Regional Hospital in
Pinehurst, NC, surrounded by his loving family.

Cleveland and Betty shared 46 years of marriage. Out
of this union, five beautiful children were born, Lisa, Shirley,
Cleveland Jr., Phillip, and Joel.

He loved watching westerns, wrestling, and spending
time with family and friends, especially his great-grandchildren.
Cleveland also enjoyed fishing, volleyball, cooking, and a nice
home-cooked meal. He was very skilled with his hands and
liked working outside. Cleveland was employed by Clark’s
Equipment and JP Stevens.

Cleveland graduated from Mineral Springs School, Class
of 1963, in Ellerbe, NC. He loved the Lord and attended many
churches in Richmond and surrounding counties, supporting
his wife, Reverend Betty Terry. Cleveland truly believed in
helping others, even strangers.

Cleveland was preceded in death by his parents, John
Henry, and Venetta Terry, his wife, Reverend Betty Terry, a son
Phillip Terry, three sisters, Joann Stanback, Lucille T, Hoover
and Diane T. McLaughlin, and four brothers, Edward Terry Sr.,
Joe Capel, Roscoe Terry, and Calvester Terry.

Those left to celebrate his life and cherished memories are
his four children, Lisa Terry, Shirley Terry (Russell), Cleveland
Terry Jr. (Vivian), and Joel Terry (Wanda); ten grandchildren;
seventeen great grandchildren; one sister, Christine Reid
(Jeffery); two brothers, Ernest Terry (Bobbie), and Melvin
McLaughlin; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Simmons (Avery) and
Edna Wall; three brothers-in-law, Perry Covington (Sal), David
Covington and Robert Covington (Sherilynn); a good friend,
Mr. Edward Wakefall; and a host of other relatives and friends.
