Mr. Atlas Junior Collins (“Boy”) the son of the late Eli and Cora Collins, was born May 30, 1942, in Montgomery County, North Carolina.
On Tuesday, January 18, 2022 he peacefully transitioned from this earthly life at home surrounded by his loving family.
Atlas was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Candor, NC. He worked at Fruit of the Loom in Star, NC as a maintenance mechanic. He retired from University of North Carolina Research Center in Windblow, NC.
Atlas loved working on his rental properties, cutting and selling pulpwood, providing firewood to senior citizens, lending a helping hand to anyone who needed him. Above all, he LOVED HIS FAMILY.
Those who will never forget his memory include, his loving wife Pearlie M. Collins, his son Nelson Wooten (Lisa) of Biscoe, NC. Daughters, Stephanie Wooten of Candor, NC and Tess Smith of Greensboro, NC. One brother; Colon Haywood (Doreatha) of New Haven, CT. Six sisters; Dora Wall of Beaver Falls, PA, Annie Ruth Morrison of Jackson Springs, NC, Barbara Streeter of Candor, NC, Carolyn McCaskill of Jackson Springs, NC, Patricia Streeter of Southern Pines, NC, and Linda Nicholson (Roy) of Candor, NC. Three sister-in-laws and two brother-in-laws. Six grandchildren; Doniell and Marcell Watts, Taikera Legrande, Uniqua Brower, Quentin and Daisha Wooten. Eleven great-grandchildren, two god-children Preston Cole and Krystal Bernard. A special niece and nephew Gilbert and Regina Wall. A true family friend Tarence Marice Watts. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
